4th Grade-6th Grade
MEET YOUR TEACHER
Hello! My name is Ami Driver and I live in Newport with my college sweetheart, Cris. We have been married for 21 years and have two children: Madison, 18 and Bubba, who is 16. Made attends ASU in Jonesboro and hopes to become an Occupational Therapist someday. Bubba is currently attending ASMSA in Hot Springs.
I LOVE what I do! I hold a BSE in Early Childhood Education P-4, a Masters in Special Education; Gifted, Talented, and Creative, and a Masters in Educational Leadership. When I grow up, I hope to be an elementary principal. I teach pull-out Gifted and Talented classes for 4th grade through 6th grade for the Newport School District. This is my 12th year to work for this district. I started out in Pre-K as an instructional assistant and once I finished school, I taught 3rd grade before being asked to take over the GT program. I hold a CDL license and I drive a bus route, which is not as bad as you might think. That is SUPER FUN!!! I also coach the Junior High Cheer squad in my spare time.
I love being a teacher and really think that I can make a difference in the lives of my students. Many of these students just need a dependable adult in their life, and I would like to be that for them. Teaching is a calling and it is NOT for everyone.
